Washington County - Crossing Sites

**Please note that most of these sites have been contributed by previous participants of the Amphibian Monitoring Program and have not been verified by NBNC**
**Extreme caution should be used when approaching a crossing site by car. Drive 15mph max until you reach the site. Once at a corssing site, PROCEED BY FOOT **


North on 215 from Route 2. In lower Cabot, turn left onto West Hill Pond Rd. In 3 miles, arrive at full intersection. At this intersection and continuing straight, amphibinas cross beween the pond on the left and the woods on the right.


Approximately 500-1000 feet up Long Meadow Road from the County Road in Calais.

East Montpelier

From County Rd. turn onto Center Rd. Drive approx. 1.1 miles.


From the intersection of Route 100 and Tucker Hill Road, travel up tucker Hill Road past the 3rd building on the left (a house) and the site is right there and uphill.

Two tenths of a mile up Bragg Hill (+/-) where two ponds are located beside the road, just before the turn onto Moulton Road.

From Route 100 in Waitsfield, turn onto Center Fayston Road and travel it about 3 miles or more until you arrive at the intersection of Kew Vasseur Road, amphibians will be crossing in this area too so be careful!  Drive past Kew Vasseur Road until you find Randell Road on the right, turn right and be careful--many frogs and amphibians crossing in this area too.


Lanesboro Rd. near Ethan Allen Corner


The first mile of the Brook Road, running uphill from where the Brook Road joins the paved road on the way out to 89.

The part of Middlesex Center Road starting where the Brook Road and Middlesex Center Road join (near the big culvert), up the hill a few hundred yards to East Hill Road.

Molly Supple Hill Road for the first mile uphill from East Hill Road/Center Rd. 9.

Some may also be found on the paved road from Molly Supple Hill to Rumney School or even as far as Shady Rill or Route 12 (less likely the closer you get to Rt. 12).

The site begins at the intersection of Buldoc Road and East Hill Road and ends about 500 yards down East Hill Road towards

I-89 exit #9, right onto Center Road, go about 2.5 miles to Zdon Road on left. Site is just over initial uphill and goes for approx. 150 yards.


Northfield Rd. off Warren Mtn. Rd.

Turn off 12 A, near the Roxbury / Northfield line. About 2 ½ miles up Rabbit Hallow Rd. you will find hard woods on the Left and a pond on the Right.


The entire lower length of meadow lane as well as mountainview drive.

Lower Lincoln Gap Road, approximately 300 yards of road starting just above the gravel pit.

Fuller Hill Rd, between Senor & Plunkton roads.

German Flats Road, from the Fayston/Warren town line south to about 1/8th of a mile before the Sugarbush Access Road.


From Rt 100, take Meadow Road and turn right onto North Road.  Go 0.1 mile, park on right side of road.  Walk ~150 yards south & turn around.

Park at intersection of Eagle’s Rd and Rt 100.  Walk south on rt 100, turn around at next driveway (~100 yds).    Most activity was between trees near Eagles Road and northern end of horse paddock on west side of Rt. 100 (about 50 ft of Rt. 100).
